Cycling along the Blue Ribbon
The beautiful riverside scenery along the Rivers Elbe, Saale, Unstrut and Mulde lends itself to nature exploration by bicycle.
The Elbe cycle trail travels along the homonymous river from Prettin to Havelberg (360km), taking nature lovers through the Mittlere Elbe biosphere reserve and the scenic Elbe floodplains – a nature experience second to none in the region! The Saale cycle path, however, winds its way through Bad Kösen, Naumburg, Merseburg, Halle and Bernburg. It is in parts identical with the Romanesque Road and takes in a number of 1000-year old churches, cathedrals, monasteries and castles, thus allowing the interested visitor to take a step back to the Middle Ages. Even more choice for cycle tours along the Blue Ribbon is offered thanks to the Unstrut and Elster cycle paths in the south, and the Muldental cycle path that meanders past the Dübener Heide nature park, the Mulde reservoir and the landscape art project of Goitzsche near Bitterfeld.
