Wittenberg invites to a Reformers' Banquet
Lutherstadt Wittenberg has a special offer for gourmets: a culinary journey back to the times of Luther!
A day tracking the history of Reformation in Wittenberg is best ended with a stop at “Schlosskeller” restaurant where you can sample dishes from Luther’s times to get an impression of what was served about 500 years ago. Among the menu items is “Luther’s Fire Spit” which is best enjoyed after the “Masters’ Soup”. The special “Katharina’s Cooking Pots” menu is opened in proper style with a cup of mead and followed by such specialties as a mushroom soup, stuffed pancakes and other delights from the cookbook of Katharina Melanchthon. The “Banquet of the Reformers” features, among other things, the favorite dish of the Elbe Fishermen and the Professor’s Dinner.
