Wine and sparkling wine from the South of Saxony-Anhalt
In the South, you will find a wine that makes you swoon, a landscape to dream of and a region with history and stories. Here, grapes have been cultivated since the 10th century.
The northernmost quality wine-growing region in Germany covers only 1640 acres (664 ha), but because of its changeful history it has an extraordinary wide range and quality of wines. More than 30 types of grapes are cultivated here. More than 40 wine-growing estates and Germany’s largest sparkling wine producer, Rotkäppchen-Mumm Sparkling Wine Cellar in Freyburg, benefit from the almost southern weather conditions, the continental climate of the river valleys of Saale and Unstrut. From August to September a number of Vintage Festivals are taking place. The numerous castles, palaces and cathedrals of the region are romantic!
