Traditional Wine Growing Region
Like in the Italian Tuscany!
“It just looks like Tuscany here!”, is what the famous painter and graphic designer Max Klinger is said to have said when he first time visited this charming landscapes – both natural and manmade. Romantic towns, ancient castles and bucolic vineyards lend their unique charm to this scenic region. The climate is mild and there is a wide variety of plants. The soil of muschelkalk and new red sandstone, which comes to the surfaces at many spots lending color the landscape. The bouquet of the Saale-Unstrut wines, of which the main variety is the Muller-Thurgau, are also characterized by this this soil.
