With or without deer: People in Anhalt always knew how to eat well: Poultry filled with red beets, butter-roasted bratwurst on rice pudding, legs of pork with plums, roses and pistachios or "Heaven and Earth", a dish made of potatoes ("Earth") and wine-stewed pear slices or apple puree ("Heaven") with roasted bratwurst and delicate slivered pork belly indicate a cuisine, which is not really diet fare. Anhalt’s specialities include also Anhalt asparagus or original Dessau bacon quiche.
