Cheese, trout, highland cattle: The culinary Harz region
The “Harz cheese" is the best known speciality from the Harz region, it is a low-fat cheese, which is prepared by old home recipes.
The “Harz highland cattle“ is a special breed of beef cattle from the Harz region, which was almost extinct. Well-conducted restaurants have already put “Harz highland cattle” on their menu card. Of course, the Harz region also has abundant deer and trout, which have their homes in swift-flowing water. Enjoy all this with a glass of Hasseröder beer and after the meal with a herb-flavoured liquor “Schierker Feuerstein” – and you will have lived healthy!
