Active in the Altmark
Cycling routes, horseback riding, water exploration. The Altmark is the ideal setting for travel dreams requiring the great outdoors.
The flat landscape is an El Dorado for cyclists. The Elbe Cycle Route alone goes 110 km through the Altmark, and the Altmark Circular Route features 500 km of completed cycling trails. Europe’s longest horseback riding network, 1,600 km long, is also found in the Altmark. Picturesque villages in the Altmark like Gardelegen, Schollene or Kalbe/Milde are the perfect bases for exploring this fascinating region. The village of Kunrau is located within Drömling Nature Park. In this unique landscape hiking fans will discover 700 km of hiking trails. Along the “Blue Ribbon”, you can participate in canoe tours, hike around Lake Arend (to “Maränenfischer Kagel” in Ziesau, for instance, to sample the freshly smoked fish), rent a paddle boat, or enjoy an excursion to Wahrenberg, the stork village. Taster courses in diving at Lake Ahrend are available. And of course you can rent your own houseboat in Havelberg.
