Europe’s largest contiguous linden forest is located in the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heath.
The 82-kilometer Aller Cycle Route crosses the Ohrekreis and the Bördekreis (former districts in Saxony-Anhalt) and ends at the four source springs of the Aller in Eggenstedt. On the way, it meanders past the Memorial to the “Division of Germany” in Marienborn and the Börde Museum Ummendorf. The Aller-Elbe Cycle Route passes the Baroque gardens and landscaped park of Hundisburg palace and leads to Europe’s largest waterway crossing in Magdeburg.The Aller-Harz Cycle Route brings you to Huysburg Monastery. The “East Elbe” cycling tour around Schönebeck leads through the“Middle Elbe” biosphere reserve and the nearby recreational areas Plötzky, Pretzien and Dannigkow, as well as winding past idyllic forest lakes that invite you to swim, fish and dive. In Magdeburg, you will encounter one of Germany’s greenest cities, with exceptionally beautiful historic parks – and of course the cathedral and Hundertwasser’s “Green Citadel” are must sees.
