Hospitality along the Blue Ribbon
Saxony-Anhalt is not only rich in scenic rivers and lakes, but also in cozy water-front restaurants and pubs.
Wörlitz park is to come up with a fine blend of dining and music from May to September each year: Visitors are invited to take a romantic gondola ride and listen to the lake-side concerts while being treated with culinary delights typical of the region. There are even more water-front restaurants and inns to be found along the Rivers Elbe and Mulde, Salle, Unstrut and Bode. A special service is offered by the owner of the Brambacher Terrassen restaurant near Rosslau: just shout out to the ferryman and he will take you safely across the River Elbe. Designed by the architect Carl Flieger, the Kornhaus restaurant in Dessau is a treasured gem of Bauhaus-style architecture and offers fabulous views of the River Elbe. Those who choose to travel even further south are recommended to pay a visit to the Krug zum grünen Kranze restaurant in Halle an der Saale or the Strandhotel Alter Felsenkeller riverside restaurant in Naumburg, which even offers a landing stage for canoes.
