Arendsee
Benedictine "Nunnery St. Marien"
The convent ruins are situated picturesquely by the shores of lake Arendsee. The cross-shaped basilica is a perfectly preserved example of Romanesque architecture. It is one of the earliest vaulted brick buildings in the region. The construction of the portal is a prime example of medieval building symbolism.
