Giebichenstein Castle
The upper part of this castle complex was first mentioned in 961. Its legendary ruins sitting high above the banks of the Saale river sent the poets of German romanticism into raptures. Today the upper castle is an open-air museum, whereas the lower castle is the seat of the "College for Art and Design Giebichenstein”.
