Garden Dreams in and around Dübener Heide
A striking contrast: only 20 minutes between Germany’s oldest baroque garden and its most modern landscape park in Bitterfeld.
Park-Festival in Altjeßnitz
The contrast couldn’t be more striking: Almost within sight of Germany’s most modern chemical processing plant in Bitterfeld there is Germany’s oldest baroque maze in Altjessnitz. The garden labyrinth delightfully blends with the manor parks with its small village.
Only 10km away – you won’t believe your eyes – is the “Bitterfeld Sea”, an giant abandoned quarry that was opened for swimming. A landscaped park was designed along its shores inviting visitors to relax and unwind.
The picture-perfect renaissance palace on the shores of Elbe river in Pretzsch is always worth a visit. The once baroque pleasure grounds have developed into a quite extensive landscape park. The baroque Reinharz castle was built at the beginning of the 18th century; it is surrounded by ditches and connected with the surrounding parklands via a bridge.
