Active in the Saale-Unstrut Region and Halle
The Saale Wine Hiking Trail wanders past romantic vineyards for more than 25 kilometers. There are plenty of opportunities to linger along the way and sample the exquisite local wines directly from the estates.
From Kleinwangen near Nebra, its only a hop, skip and a jump from the guided hike leading to the site where the sky disc was discovered on the Mittelberg, to Ziegelroda Forest. The Saale Cycling Trail follows the Saale river for over 427 kilometers to where it joins the Elbe at Barby. The 190-kilometer-long Unstrut Cycle Route leads to the regional wine capital, Freyburg. A zodiac boat or canoe trip on the Saale and Unstrut is a once in a lifetime experience, while cruises on the Saale with “Bad Kösener Personenschifffahrt” cater to those looking for relaxation and romance. Wellness oases and health spas are found in the triangle Bad Kösen, Bad Sulza and Bad Bibra. Exploring Halle on foot or by bike, along the Saale river or to the Handel House, up to Giebichenstein Castle or to Reichardt’s Garden, leaves time for friendly encounters along the way. “Being active to escape the “daily grind”, to do something good for your body and yourself – that’s possible in Halle”. That is how the people of Halle describe it themselves.
