Sangerhausen, the more than 1000-year old rose town between the Südharz mountains and the Kyffhäuser mountains offers many sights. The world¿s most important rose garden, the Europa-Rosarium, holds more than 7,000 kinds of roses on 12.5 hectares.
The Spengler-Museum with its 2000 nature and history exhibits is a goldmine. Its most important attraction is the completely preserved skeleton of an old mammoth. Experience the 800-year old history of the Sangerhäuser copper mine in the Röhrigschacht shaft. Along the ¿street of romance¿ you find the oldest and most important building of Sangerhausen ¿ the roman Ulrich-Kirche church, a Roman pillar basilica of international cultural-historical reputation. Also impressive is the late-Gothic Jacobikirche church and the market square which is listed as a historic monument.
