Welcome to Eisleben, a city steepd in history and traditions.
Eisleben is beautifully nestled amid the gently rolling hills of Mansfeld Basin, in the eastern foothills of the Harz mountains, and is one of the oldest cities between Harz and Elbe.
The great German reformer Dr. Martin Luther was born and died in Eisleben. The house were his was born, the house where he died, the church where he was baptized, St. Anna church and St. Andreas church are among the most important Luther sights in Eisleben.
But the city has plenty more attractions to offer besides the Luther sights: the magnificent theater, the famous Eisleben Wiesenmarkt fair, good hotels and restaurants, and much more await visitors here.
The region and the city have an 800-year old tradition of copper slate mining which greatly shaped the area.
