While in most parts of Germany horseriding is restricted to certain designated paths, horseriding in the north of Saxony-Anhalt is allowed on any trail unless expressly prohibited. Experience the freedom wide open spaces and ever-changing scenery bring!


The Altmark has always been closely connected with horseriding and therefore boasts a great number of stables and horse trekking operators. In 1997, the ´Horseriding Rallies in the Altmark´ association was called in to being in Arneburg-Krusemark. The offers range from full-day ride outs to horse treks spanning several days. Ride in confidence with our experienced staff who are knowledgeable to make your trip both safe and informative.

says Eike Trumpf, manager of the Horse Rally project. In order to fully enjoy your riding experience you should wear suitable riding apparel.

The tours are not suitable for beginners. For the treks you should be able to ride to an advanced standard and have knowledge in horse care. Experience in cross-country riding are essential. For first-time riders instruction is readily available at many farms as well as horseriding holidays for children.

Facilities for keeping your horse at livery are available throughout the Altmark. Cost ranges from DEM 15 to 20 per night. A vaccination card and health certificate have to be presented. Horses are for rent at DEM 70 / day. In order to familiarize yourself with your ´trail partner´ you should arrive at least a day prior to the horse trek. Discover the scenery in a fashion which others will never experience!

Those wishing to explore the Altmark on foot or by bike will find plenty to entertain them among the beautiful and well-marked paths. The Altmark region offers a wide range of sightseeing including Romanesque buildings, Gothic churches and medieval towns with half-timbered houses. Theme roads allow you to follow in the tracks of Prince Otto von Bismarck or the famous poet Theodor Fontane. Very popular is the «Romantic Road » which takes you back to the Middle Ages.
